# Translate

> How to contribute to DiapStash translations

DiapStash translations are managed on [Crowdin](https://crowdin.com/project/diapstash).
Everyone is welcome to contribute! Translations are reviewed for accuracy and compliance with the guidelines before being integrated into the app in each update.
New strings are added regularly, so check back often.

## How to contribute

- Create an account on [Crowdin](https://crowdin.com/).
- Go to the [DiapStash project page](https://crowdin.com/project/diapstash).
- Select your language.
- Select a file or use the "Translate all" button.
- Translate the strings.

## Rules

- Always read the context provided for each string to ensure an accurate translation.
- Some terms, such as "DStash Foundation," should remain in English.
- Pay attention to plural forms and follow the format specified for each language.
- For a language to be added to the app, the "App Strings" (`diapstash_app.arb`) file must be **100% translated**.
- If the "App Strings" (`diapstash_app.arb`) file falls below **70–80% translated**, the language may be removed from the app.

## Files

- "App Strings" (`diapstash_app.arb`): Main translation file for the app. **Priority file** for translation.
- "Android Strings" (`android_strings.json`): Translations for Android-specific elements (widgets).
- "iOS Strings" (`ios_strings.json`): Translations for iOS-specific elements (widgets, Siri shortcuts).
- "What's news" `whatsnews.json`: Dialogs presenting new features in major updates.
- "In App Notification" `global_in_app_notification.json`: Translations for app news and update notifications.

## Request a new language

If your language is not available, contact the DiapStash team to request its addition. A full translation takes a lot of time (approximately 5 hours of work). Make sure you are committed before requesting the addition of a language. Multiple people can collaborate on translating a language.
